I am a historian and a museum professional
who uses objects to tell stories about the past.
I combine academic expertise with years of practical museum experience
developing exhibitions and educational content in Bay Area and New York City cultural institutions.
I hold a PhD in History of Science from Stanford University
and an MA in Museum Anthropology from Columbia University.
My content knowledge includes history of natural history, botany, and technology as well as anthropology.
What are the questions that drive me?
Why do people collect objects and put them on display?
How can we “read” objects in the same way as we read texts?
What messages do collections communicate, and how can those messages be harnessed and shared?
How do the physical powers of space and place affect the way we experience history through material culture?
How can museum collections serve as educational tools in the 21st century?
